A tight subscapularis muscle sends pain to the shoulder, shoulder blade, and arm (see diagrams in video).

This muscle becomes tight with:
1. Bad posture – this muscle is shortened if your shoulders are constantly rounded inwardly and medially for a long time.
2. Excessive chest workouts – Almost every time you train the chest, you also train the subscapularis (shoulder adduction and inward/medial rotation of the arm). 3. Acute traumas – like slipping on the stairs while holding on to the handrail.
