Looking for other tips to reduce your sprain/strain with the standard bench press: Try any combination of the following:
?remove it from your program or reduce the amount of weight lifted.
?release the pectorals and traps (trigger point/foam roll, etc.) before and after you exercise.
?do not drop the elbows below your torso at the bottom of the standard bench press.
?further develop your phasic muscles (upper back, abdominals, etc.).
